In cherokee mythology it is thought that the world was originally covered entirely by water, and that it was a demiurge-beetle who created the lands by bringing clay to the surface from the depths of the abyss. The unseen performance is inspired by this myth. The artist performed and privately recorded the action of spreading clay around the surface of a bathtub. The images float in a timeless dimension. The action, conceived as a matrix, generates a proliferation of printed images in sequence and reproduced in various sizes.
Nella mitologia Cherokee si pensa che il mondo all’origine fosse ricoperto interamente dalle acque, e che fosse stato un demiurgo-scarabeo a creare le terre portando in superficie l’argilla dalla profondità degli abissi. The unseen performance è ispirato alla dimensione mitologica. L’artista ha compiuto e registrato privatamente l’azione di cospargere argilla attorno alla superficie di una vasca da bagno. Le immagini fluttuano in una dimensione a-temporale. L’azione, concepita come una matrice, genera una proliferazione di immagini stampate in sequenza o riprodotte in varie dimensioni.
